UK Football Clubs Launch Bluetooth Marketing

football.gifSeven British football clubs have launched Bluetooth marketing drives in and around their home stadiums during matches.

Fans of Blackburn Rovers, Birmingham City, West Ham, Portsmouth, Wigan Athletic, Wolves and Celtic will be able to opt-in in order to receive club profiles, fixtures, news and manager notes. The cost of this will be absorbed by advertisers at a pay-per-download rate of between GBP 40p and 70p.

A recent Trial at a Portsmouth match showed very good results. 6,245 fans opted in to download a film trailer out of a total crowd of 20,200 (31%).

HERE ARE SOME EXAMPLES OF HOW BLUETOOTH PROXIMITY MARKETING WORKS

For someone with a shop

Have the unit stationed in your business premises ideally where it can beam its message out into the street and catch passers by. This is very effective because if you have a retail outlet you will literally see people walking past your business or browsing your window and within seconds they will receive your offer. It is a fantastic way to get more footfall into your business and it is environmentally friendly (unlike flyers) and most importantly it is cost effective

For a company exhibiting at a show

Having paid substantial money for a stand, you want to attract people to it. When they enter the exhibition hall a message you have typed immediately goes to their mobile phone. You have announced your presence at the show and can direct them to your stand (typically where they can enter a competition you are running so you can capture leads)

Vehicle Advertising

Why not use your business vehicles as mobile advertising stations. By using the bluetooth system in a car (powered by a car charger) you can send adverts to pedestrians--IMAGINE THAT!

A drinks brand

A person walks into a pub and their mobile receives a message telling them to present their phone when they go to the bar to receive a free drink. It’s a fair bet that a person might stick with the same brand all evening and consequently you will increase your sales

A Night Club

Send a video directly to the phone of late night passers by promoting the DJ that is on tonight or showing the inside of the Club

Not everyone has access to a PC but they do have their mobile phone

So instead of sending people to a website start using proximity bluetooth solutions
